RE: New legislation
On April 27, 2007, I wrote requesting that you notify the colleges and universities under your jurisdiction of a new law in effect July 1, 2007 for Interior Designer Registration and candidate testing. In an effort to reach as many Oklahomans as possible, I suggested that all alumni with Interior Design and Fine Arts degrees or similar programs be notified. This notification was also for the benefit of informing candidates for registration that they are now required to come through this Board and qualify for national testing.
Due to the flurry of candidate applications that had not been notified of these requirements, leads me to believe alumni and students have not been notified. I am again requesting that you inform all higher education institutions of the requirements for testing applications be sent to this Board as well as the alert that registration began July 1, 2007. Our website is www.ok.gov/interiordesigners and all applications and additional information is there for their use, as well as contact information. I would greatly appreciate the help of higher education during this process, as a two year window for registration will close July 30, 2009 and could affect some persons being denied registration when for now they would qualify.
If I can be of further help to you, please call. Thank you in advance for your time and attention to these matters and we look forward to hearing from you.
